This is my first introducing to my smart home project. The goal is to learn Ignition and the Perspective Module by doing. With the bonus of having a home automation dashboard and other web tools.
Objectives:
- Run Ignition Maker Edition on a Linux SBC (Single board computer)
- Connect to many different types of devices around the home:
- Modbus through an RTU to TCP Gateway
- OPC tags inside a PLC (Programmable logic controller)
- Website REST API data (i.e. Weather forecast)
- Historically store tag data points
- Send alarm information to a phone or messaging app
- Create a web tool to assist with splitting apartment expenses with a roommate
